E&EM Student Spends Summer Working on Kyoto Protocol Implementation

E&EM Masters student Doug Rossin spent the summer of 2005 working for the giant international management consulting firm Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) in Brazil working on Kyoto Protocol implementation activities. PwC operates in 138 countries across the world, including Brazil.

E&EM Graduate Student Selected for International Scholar Laureate Program

November 12, 2005

E&EM Masters student Ariel Castillo was selected in November 2005 to attend the International Scholar Laureate Program. Ariel has been given the option of traveling to one of three locations where the program is offered: China, Central and Eastern Europe, or Australia beginning in May 2006.

Two New D.Sc. Degrees Awarded

On April 13, 2005, Elvin Yuzugullu defended her research on "Hydrogen Production Alternatives: Resolving Disparities and Examining the Stability of Decision Making Amongst Divergent Stakeholders," thus receiving her Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) degree from the E&EM Program of GW. E&EM Represented Well at the National Hydrogen Association's Annual Conference

This year, the National Hydrogen Association (NHA) held it's annual conference between March 29 and April 1, 2005 in Washington D.C. The conference was titled: "Partnering for the Global Hydrogen Future." E&EM students and alumni participated and contributed to the conference through several activities.

In January 2005, Professor Jonathan Deason, lead professor for the Environmental and Energy Management Program, was awarded more than $7,000 by the Office of Research Services and Fiscal Affairs of the George Washington Institute of Public Policy, School of Public Policy and Public Administration.

E&EM Alumnus Scott Christian Starts New Position with the EPA

June 1, 2005

On May 23rd Scott Christian will start as an intern with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in their Office of Transportation and Air Quality's Smartway program. The Smartway program is a voluntary EPA program to assist in the more efficient movement of Frieght in the United States.

Susan Hall Defends D.Sc. Proposal on Integrated Remote Sensing for Disaster Preparedness and Response

On October 12, 2004, Susan W. Hall passed into doctoral candidacy status with a successful defense of her research proposal entitled “Improving the Integration of Imagery and Remote Sensing Resources for Environmental Emergency Preparedness and Response in the United States: Operationalizing the Open Skies Concept for All-Weather Airborne Data Collection.”
