On March 30-April 1, 2012, GW hosted the fifth annual Clinton Global Initiative - University (CGIU) event. More than 1,000 students representing all 50 states, 82 countries, and more than 300 universities participated in the three-day event on GW’s main Foggy Bottom campus. EEM professors Royce Francis and Jonathan Deason served on the “GW Ad-Hoc Committee on the Clinton Global Initiative – University” to review more than 900 student commitment proposals organized into five focus areas: Education, Environment and Climate Change, Peace and Human Rights, Poverty Alleviation and Public Health.

EEM Co-Sponsors “Business Response Conference” on Clean Energy

The Environmental and Energy Management program co-sponsored, with the GW School of Business and other co-sponsors, the student-organized “Business Response 3.0 Conference,” held in the Jack Morton Auditorium on February 24, 2012. The event explored how forward thinking businesses can seize market opportunities for clean technologies. Panelists discussed a wide array of clean energy topics, including energy demand growth and future energy profiles, the role of public policy in the production and consumption of energy, and current and future energy investment trends.
EEM Students Attend American Council on Renewable Energy Ten-Year Anniversary Celebration Dinner

On December 5th, 2011, EEM master's students, Josef Antosh, Thomas Mooney and Christopher Watroba, attended the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) 10-Year Anniversary Celebration Dinner held at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, adjacent to the GW main campus. Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was honored as the Renewable Energy Leader of the Decade and delivered a keynote address calling for an even playing field for renewable energy sources.

Several EEM students and faculty members were involved in the 8th Natural Resource Damage Symposium: "Coming of Age: Time to Set Expectations for Performance, Professional Standards and Best Practices," held on October 25-26, 2011 in the Cafritz Conference Center on GW’s Foggy Bottom campus. At the event, EEM Lead Professor Jonathan Deason chaired the Plenary Session on “Site Remediation, NRDAs and Restoration – Current Practices and New Approaches.”
