An important component of the Environmental and Energy Management Program is funded research. Organizations that currently are sponsoring environmental management research at GW, or which recently have done so, include the United Nations Environment Programme; United Nations Climate Technology Centre and Network; Secretariat, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change; U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; ClearPath Foundation; U.S. Department of Defense; National Science Foundation; Duke Energy Renewables; National Institute of Standards and Technology; Institute for Water Resources, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; Transportation Environmental Research Program, Federal Highway Administration; National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior; Potomac Electric Power Company; and Transportation Development Foundation. All students benefit from the cutting edge results flowing from these activities as they are incorporated into program courses. In addition, some students have the opportunity to participate directly in research projects as graduate research assistants.
