Doctoral Degree

The EEM concentration offers two types of doctoral programs: a traditional Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in which students engage in cutting-edge scholarly research aimed at advancing generalizable knowledge, and a Doctor of Engineering (DEng) degree aimed at leveraging advanced analytical tools to solve the most challenging problems in practice. Courses are selected from among those listed for the Master of Science degree, as well as from approximately 100 courses offered by the Environmental Engineering, Environmental Law, Environmental and Occupational Health, Environmental Policy, and Environmental Politics programs, which are located in other departments and schools of the George Washington University.

Further details about both degree programs can be seen at https://emse.engineering.gwu.edu/phd-or-deng-engineering-management
