Dr. Stephen Fields received his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Environmental and Energy Management at GW in 2012. Before attending GW, he earned his Master's degree in Systems Engineering from University of Virginia and his Bachelor's degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech. In 2008, Stephen accepted a new position with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Office of Commissioner, as an Operations Research Analyst. In his new job, Stephen is involved in assessing several key aspects of agency program performance within the various FDA centers to identify ways of improving performance to coincide with FDA's overall Strategic Plan. He presently is working on three principal tasks. (1) providing information and analyses to help agency officials, the Department, and members of Congress make decisions related to programs, policies, budgets, and planning (2) assisting FDA managers improve program operations and performance, and (3) disseminating evaluation results and methodological tools useful to FDA managers and the public health community. Stephen previously worked with the U.S. National Institutes of Health as an Environmental Engineer.
