Dr. Edwin E. Herricks, eminent Professor of Environmental Biology in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Illinois, addressed a luncheon seminar of the American Society of Engineering Managers at the GW Faculty Club in October 2000. The function was organized by the GW Environmental and Energy Management Program. Professor Herricks, who is a veteran of many National Research Council committees and other distinguished appointments, provided the audience with a compelling view of why professionals have such a difficult time working across disciplinary lines.
Professor Herricks, one of very few biologists in the world who has spent his life working on a major university engineering faculty, is well-equipped to address that topic. |
In addition to his appointment to the Civil and Environmental Engineering faculty at the University of Illinios, Professor Herricks also is a Department Affiliate in the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences at Illinois. He is engaged in
research activities concerning methods of improving environmental deicsi0n making and ecologically relevant enginering design. Professor Herricks holds a Ph.D. degree in Biology from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and M.S. degree from the Johns Hopkins University, and a B.A. degree from the University of Kansas.
