EEM faculty members were active in publishing peer-reviewed papers and making professional society presentations during the Spring 2015 semester. Here are summaries of several of them:


• Prof. Ekundayo Shittu (with colleagues J. Grahovac and G. Parker) published the paper “The Impact of Costliness, Competitive Importance, and Modularity of Investments on Outsourcing,” in Production and Operations Management, Vol. 24, No. 3, March 2015, pp. 421–437.

• Prof. Ekundayo Shittu (with colleagues Linus Nyiwul and Kanwalroop Dhanda) published the paper “Prescriptive Measures for Environmental Performance: Emission Standards, Over-Compliance and Monitoring,” in Clean Technologies and Environmental Policy, April 2015, Volume 17, Issue 4, pp. 1077-1091.

• Prof. Rachael Jonassen published the paper “Energy Investment Risk and Future Climate, Part II” in the May 2015 edition of the European Energy Centre journal Energy Learning. This is the second of a three-part series she is preparing on the topic, which will be published in cooperation with the United Nations Environment Programme and Centro Studi Galileo as an EEC eBook upon completion. The eBook will form the basis of a new training course on the topic.

• Prof. Rachael Jonassen (with three colleagues from NOAA and the National Snow and Ice Data Center) is organizing a session at the American Geophysical Union annual meeting in December 2015 on the topic “Exploring a Permafrost Forecast System.”

• EEM Professors Joe Cascio and Royce Francis made presentations to a delegation of visiting sustainability researchers from India in March 2015.

• EEM Professor Royce Francis presented a paper in Santa Fe, New Mexico in April, 2015 on “Is there a good way to think about climate uncertainty for infrastructure systems?” at the “Reinventing the Grid: Designing Resilient, Adaptive and Creative Power Systems” workshop hosted by the Santa Fe Institute.
