In October 2022, EEMI co-founder and long-time EEMI Co-Director Joe Cascio relocated to Mission Viejo, California. Joe will continue to be active in the EEMI, continuing his service to SEAS and GW as the EEMI Deputy Director, remaining active in research, and maintaining his active educational role via hybrid and online teaching.
In November 2022, EEM Master of Science student Sara Jimenez joined InSite Intelligence in a part-time position as an Energy Analyst while she finishes her degree. EEM student Anthony Cafasso also works at InSite Intelligence.
EEM Master of Science graduate Jonathon Anderson has been leading USAID’s humanitarian response to the historic drought in the Horn of Africa — the world’s most severe food security crisis and ground zero for the most acute impacts of climate change. Jonathon reports that, although this major problem is not high on people’s radar given competing global crises, “the attention on real/present climate impacts globally helps.”

In August 2002, EEM student Erin Hill accepted a position as an Environmental Analyst for a small environmental consulting firm working on projects for the Department of Defense.
EEM Master of Science graduate Gana Bold reports that he is consulting with on a Canadian mining project in Mongolia on mine closure, working on a methodology of the financial part of the mine closure. Gana also reports that he and his wife now have four children, the youngest of whom just started elementary school.
Dr. Rachael Jonassen, EEMI Director of Climate Change, participated in Atlantic Festival Roundtable event on September 22, 2022. The Roundtable focused on climate change as the defining issue of our time, addressing ways in which we can we rethink and reimagine new ways of doing business so that profitability and sustainability can go hand in hand, helping companies to be leaders in the climate space.
On September 20, 2022, EEMI colleague Dr. Vlad Konovalchuk was featured on the National Public Radio’s World on a Plate program, along with David Greene, host of NPR's Morning Edition, one of the most listened-to news radio programs in the United States.
EEM Master of Science graduate Bouchra Belfqih Bichette currently is a Project Manager at the World Bank Group and helped with an issue on Africa’s largest seawater desalination plant in Morocco, a video of which can be seen here.
In October 2022, Dr. Rachael Jonassen, EEMI Director Climate Change, was appointed to the National Academies Committee to Review the 5th National Climate Assessment.
