Environmental and Energy Management doctoral student Kristin Deason won the top prize among 23 competitors in the “Earthweek-Plus 2005 Environmental and Social Sustainability Research and Course Project Competition” for her project entitled "Sustainability Issues in Urban Development Policy of the Chesapeake Bay Region." The competition, held on April 20, 2005, invited students from all schools of GW to submit an abstract of a project they had completed during the past year, and make a presentation of their findings before a panel of three judges representing the EPA and the competition's sponsor, OfficeMax. Kristin received a $1000 cash prize for her presentation, and has pledged to donate a portion of her winnings to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
