General Electric Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Immelt visited GW on Monday, May 9 2005 to announce the company’s new cross-company environmental initiative called Ecomagination. As the largest company in the world with a market capitalization exceeding $380 billion, the new environmental initiative could have one of the largest direct impacts on the world’s environment in history.
After meeting Mr. Immelt, E&EM graduate student Kristin Deason was one of 10 GW students pre-selected to ask Mr. Immelt a question live on CSPAN during the question-and-answer session following Mr. Immelt’s speech. In her question, Kristin asked Mr. Immelt what steps GE will take to make renewable energy and energy efficient technologies cost-effective and attractive to consumers. In addition to the live telecast, the event also is also archived on the GE website. Please visit the company website to learn more about GE's Ecomagination program and to view the webcast.
