EEMI Begins to Move Professional Short Course Series Online

Welcome to New Professor Dr. John P. Helveston

EEM colleagues are pleased to welcome Dr. John P. Helveston to the EEM team. John joined the Department of Engineering Management and Systems Engineering and the Environmental and Energy Management Program as an Assistant Professor in the Fall 2018 semester.  Within the EEM academic program and the Environmental and Energy Management Institute, John joins Professors Royce Francis, Ekundayo Shittu, Joe Cascio, Alex Beehler, Rachael Jonassen, Kelly Scanlon, Scott Sklar, Ed Saltzberg, Jonathan Deason and others.

New GW President Issues Sustainability Report

In November 2018, new GW President Thomas J. LeBlanc issued a major GW Sustainability Progress Report. The report elucidates in great quantitative detail the progress GW has made recently in a variety of areas such as reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, water conservation, water diversion and sustainable investments. In addition, the report provides an overview of GW’s efforts to incorporate sustainability into its operations and management decisions, and explains the connection sustainability has to the academic mission of the University.

EEMI Co-Sponsors Natural Resources Symposium

On September 25-26, 2018, the Environmental and Energy Management Institute (EEMI) co-sponsored a natural resources symposium entitled “Blueprint for Change: New Approaches and Needed Changes to Managing Natural Resource Risks, Liabilities and Opportunities.”  EMSE Professors Alex Beehler and Jonathan Deason participated in the two-day event, which was convened by the Industry Natural Resource Management Group, the GW Law School, Environmental Law Institute and the EEMI. It was conducted in the Jacob Burns Moot Court of the GW Law School.
