GW Partners with Regional Environmental Groups to Celebrate Earth Day 2007

GW partnered with regional environmental groups to stage two events in April 2007 focused on global warming and environmental responsibility. During the events, three presenters trained by former Vice President Al Gore's Climate Project shared facts and fiction surrounding the global warming controversy.

E&EM Research Results Published in Energy Policy Journal

A paper summarizing the results of Mike Helwig’s doctoral research project on optimizing use of Alternative Fuel Vehicles (AFVs) by large federal fleets was published in the spring 2007 issue of the peer-reviewed journal Energy Policy.

GW Hosts Earth Day Gathering and Webcast

GW conducted a live Earth Day webcast on April 18, 2007, spotlighting practical solutions to global warming at colleges and universities across the country. The title of the webcast was “Chill Out: Campus Solution to Global Warming.” About 160 campuses in the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia and Europe participated in the simulcast broadcast out of GW.

GW Hosts Climate Change Action Conference

On February 4-5, 2007, a number of organizations cooperated to produce an action-oriented climate change conference on the GW Foggy Bottom Campus. The event, entitled “Implementing Solutions to Climate Crises” advanced practical climate-related solutions that can be implemented by businesses, governments, NGOs, communities, consumers and citizens.

On September 25, 2007, the election of Dan Somma, expected 2008 E&EM M.S. graduate, was confirmed by Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett for a three-year term on the Wheaton Urban District Advisory Committee (WUDAC), Wheaton, MD.

May 27, 2007

E&EM Master's student Dulce Meldau co-authored a paper entitled "Involvement of Farmers in the UN Foundation Initiative on Biofuels". The paper was presented by the United Nations Foundation at the 6th Biannual Commodities and Policies Conference, held in Austria (April 2007).

E&EM Graduate Joins Navigant Consulting

After graduating from the E&EM Masters program in December 2005, Doug Rossin joined the Energy Practice at Navigant Consulting, Inc. (NCI) as a consultant. The Energy Practice at NCI is divided into several divisions including the Technology Strategy & Management (TS&M) division where Doug currently is employed.
