After graduating from the E&EM Masters program in December 2005, Doug Rossin joined the Energy Practice at Navigant Consulting, Inc. (NCI) as a consultant. The Energy Practice at NCI is divided into several divisions including the Technology Strategy & Management (TS&M) division where Doug currently is employed.
At NCI, Doug is responsible for collaborating with a team of engineers in providing technical services to a variety of clients in the energy field. He currently is providing engineering and environmental expertise to the Department of Energy during several rulemaking processes. During the rulemaking process, DOE studies current energy conservation standards for commercial and residential products and determine if the standards should be revised. The process includes market and technology research, engineering analysis, environmental impact analysis, and market and consumer impacts. Doug says that courses like EMSE 222, EMSE 224, and EMSE 220 gave him essential tools that are used in his day to day tasks. The analyses that Doug contributes to the process can greatly affect the outcome of the rulemaking, which directly affects the way energy is used by the commercial and residential products that are covered by the standards.

Description of the TS&M Division taken from NCI web site:
TS&M provides leading thinking into strategies to prepare for, adapt to, or exploit changes in the core technologies that underlie a client’s business. TS&M offers insights across the entire energy value chain including energy supply, energy delivery, energy end-use, and environmental technologies; as well as in other selected technology-intensive industries including defense, oil and gas, and medical devices. TS&M draws on business, innovation and technology know-how to help clients develop, implement and manage strategies and investments around their core business technologies, and to align their technology research, development and commercialization activities with their business strategies.
