EEM Graduate Elected Chairman of GW’s Engineering Alumni Association

Indrajeet Viswanathan, a 2012 graduate of the Environmental and Energy Management Program was elected as Chairman of the George Washington University's Engineering Alumni Association in May 2015. “Jeet” as he is known, will serve a two-year term as the EAA Chair.

While pursuing his Master of Science degree in Environmental and Energy Management at GW, Indrajeet was one of the first Graduate Ambassadors for the graduate admissions office and represented SEAS at various recruiting events across USA.

After graduating in 2012, he has been actively associated with the GW alumni community. Indrajeet has volunteered in over eleven events either as a panelist, speaker or a mentor on behalf of the SEAS graduate admissions office, SEAS alumni, GW alumni, GW career development center and GW Sustainability. He also has attended numerous events on campus in his personal capacity, bringing the alumnus’ perspective when required.

The responsibilities for the Chair and Vice-Chair positions are as follows:

  • The Chair and Vice Chair attend the three annual EAA meetings; one each semester early in the fall and spring, and the annual dinner meeting in June. The Chair presides over these meetings; the Vice Chair substitutes as needed.
  • The Chair and Vice Chair attend SEAS alumni events as EAA representatives, in some cases with speaking roles; these events include the Engineer Mentor Fair, the Frank Howard Distinguished Lecture, the Pelton Senior Design Competition, and others.
  • The Chair serves on the SEAS National Advisory Council; the Vice Chair serves as the SEAS representative on the GW Alumni Association Board of Directors.
  • The Chair and Vice Chair meet at least once a semester with the SEAS Alumni Programs officer to discuss and outline engagement and volunteer opportunities for school alumn
