George William (Jerry) Sherk was appointed Managing Director of the Colorado Energy Research Institute at Mines in March 2010. Dr. Sherk, who also is an Associate Professor in the Environmental Science and Engineering Department at the Colorado School of Mines, received his Doctor of Science degree from the Environmental and Energy Management program in 2002. Dr. Sherk’s Bachelors and Masters degrees are from the Colorado State University.
Dr. Sherk also earned a law degree from the University of Denver Strum College of Law where he will continue to teach as an adjunct professor. His research interests lie in environmental management and health, sustainable management, allocation of water resources the water-energy nexus and environmental and water law and policy.
