E&EM doctoral candidate Stephen T. Fields, a Lieutenant in the U.S. Public Health Service, is showcased on the National Engineers Week Web Site. Steve, who works as an industrial and systems engineer with in the Architecture, Engineering, and Asset Management Branch at the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C., was nominated for recognition by Institute of Industrial Engineers. In his work at EPA, Steve oversees architecture and engineering design services and construction contracts that provide nationwide support for EPA’s offices and laboratories. He has served as the environmental protection specialist for the formulation of the budget associated with EPA’s counter-terrorism/homeland security response to events. Steve also worked on the review and development of EPA’s oversight of underground storage tank system. He has also supervised and coordinated public health events worldwide for the Secretary of Health and Human Services within the emergency operations center.
Steve’s doctoral research is focused on the development of a decision support model to identify the strategies for managing leaking underground storage tanks using the principles of decision analytic theory.
