ASEM's Activities at GW

The local chapter of the American Society for Engineering Management (ASEM), the National Capital Section (NCS), is nearing the end of activities for the 2002/2003 term. Speakers from the past months' meetings included:

-- Dr. Mark Johnson, on Army Risk Assessment Modeling,
-- Mr. Ditmeyer, Federal Rail Administration, Intelligent Systems,
-- Dr. Jonathan Gifford, Associate Professor of Public Management & Policy at GMU, on "Data Retention & Access Regime for Wireless Messgae Logs Under the U.S. System,"
-- Dr. Marvine Hamner, Assistant Professor of Engineering & Technology Management at GW, on "Empowerment & Organizational Behavior,"
-- Mr. Abdelmoula Ghzala, Sr. Infrastructure Specialist - Africa Region Transport Unit, The World Bank, on "The World Bank Project Preparation, Implementation and Management."

The last meeting of the season, before they resume again in September 2003, will be held on the 27th of June, 2003 and feature Mr. Robert Andersen, Chief Counsel, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, on "Emerging Nuclear Issues in the 21st Century." The meeting will be held at the George Washington University Club, 1918 F Street, NW in Washington DC at 12 noon. (You may RSVP to ASEM - NCS Program Chair, Elvin Yuzugullu.)

The executive officers of ASEM - NCS also met with faculty members from the Engineering Management Department at GW to discuss the challenges of the chapter future activities, in order to better plan for and improve the chapter's future endeavors.
